WHAT IS REIKI?

Reiki is a complementary therapy. The word reiki comes from the Japanese word (Rei) which means universal life and (Ki) which means energy. When energy in our bodies gets trapped, for example, due to illness or trauma, this ki energy does not flow and this causes a blocked energy system. Reiki helps the energy to flow again and through this process many people find their symptoms or ailments subside and their health improves. It works on a spiritual, physical, emotional, mental and energetic level.

Within a reiki session the client lies or sits comfortably with a blanket over them and just their shoes off.  This can take between 40 and 60 minutes. The practitioner gently lays hands on or above the chakra points of the body - the head (crown), third eye (forehead), throat, heart, solar plexus, sacral (stomach) and root. The shoulders, knees and feet are also included in a treatment. This is a pleasant, relaxing experience that can sometimes be invigorating and energising.

Reiki is now used as a complimentary therapy in more than 60 hospitals in America. It has also been adopted as part of integrative medicine programmes in Spain, Australia, Canada, Germany, Switzerland and the U.K.

Testimonials

“I had pains in so many parts of me when I was pregnant. I really felt stress relief after a few sessions of reiki and the physical symptoms improved. I returned a few months later and also got great relief from what might have been post natal depression. I felt my spirits lifted again and I had energy to do the things I wanted to do”
